Wedding Admin Tips
I won’t lie to you, this blog is not about the most fun parts of wedding planning. But please stick with me, I promise you won’t regret it!
These tips are designed to help guide you through some of the pitfalls many couples make during their wedding planning. By reading on you can avoid making the same mistakes. Trust me, I’m a wedding planner.
1/ Budget tracker
Regardless of how big or small your wedding is going to be it will involve money being spent. In order to stay within your budget, a tracker is essential right from the get go. It doesn’t need to be anything fancy, a simple spreadsheet will do the trick. The main thing is you keep it up to date with your spending.
2/ Wedding insurance
Get it. That is all.
In all seriousness please take out wedding insurance to cover you for those unforeseeable circumstances. We all remember the ‘Beast from the East’ brought most of the country to a standstill. Do you really want to invest so much time, money and energy to have the unexpected ruin it all?
3/ Hire professional suppliers
When doing your research and speaking with suppliers, check they have the appropriate insurances in place for the work they do, such a public liability. Any good reputable supplier will have these things on hand to show you if requested. If they don’t or won’t, walk away.
4/ Check contracts
Let’s be honest, we’ve all done it - signed the T&C’s or ticked the box to confirm we’re read them when we haven’t. When it comes to your wedding you need to be 100% confident you understand what you’re agreeing to. Take the time to read over any contracts before signing and as a side note, all suppliers should have you sign a contract with them. If they don’t, I refer you to my conclusion in point 3.
5/ Guestlist tracking
Yes, I know, another tracker (wedding planner bliss!). But when it comes to remembering if cousins Bob and Kelly were sent a full day or evening invitation, this spreadsheet will be your best friend. By keeping it broken down to the type of invitation sent and if they’ve replied, you’ll find it much simpler to keep on top of your guest numbers.
So there you have it folks, if you stayed with me until the end - well done. Your wedding planning will be easier for it!
