I’m Cat - the spectacular, spectacle-wearing lady person who founded Fin Flükra. Planning modern Scottish weddings is my bag, jam and everything in between. Well, it’s mostly due to my personality being a mix of Monica Geller (73%) with a smattering of Phoebe Buffay (27%). Then there’s my cumulative wealth of direct experience within the Scottish wedding industry coupled with my past roles in the corporate world of organisy things.

Beyond the world of weddings, I’m an overly (some might say) enthusiastic dog-loving kind of a girl. Our Vizsla, Floki, has her own Instagram account. Andrew, my husband, is co-parent. Road tripping is a fairly recent discovery and I’m proud to say I’ve done the iconic Route 66. The Pacific Coast Highway is next on the hit list. I just need to figure out a way of getting Floki on board. Maybe my adventuresome spirit is a nod to my roots - I’m an island girl you see, born and bred on the Shetland Isles. Now I live near Stirling and bounce around Scotland doing my wedding wizardry.

I will support you throughout the entire planning process, up to and including the day itself, making sure everything runs smoothly. How did I become a wedding planner?

Here’s a little about my background and how it’s led me to the wonderful world of wedding planning. Before establishing Fin Flükra, I worked in the finance and retail sectors for nearly 20 years. Working in this environment fine tuned my impeccable time management and killer organisational skills. That’s not to say it’s all work and no play. I’m one of those rare breeds who is both detail orientated as well as being intrinsically creative.

There’s little that brings me greater joy than helping couples pin down their wedding aesthetic before pulling all the different strands together and making it real. I take my planning responsibilities seriously and have undertaken training with the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners which is kind of a big deal in the wedding planning business. In a word, it means I’m credible.
