Christmas Wedding at House for an Art Lover

Lynsay & Chris’s December wedding in Glasgow was an absolute dream. With the incredible House for an Art Lover as their venue, they booked me for their on-the-day coordination to keep those festive spirits rolling.

Now I’m going to let you into a little secret – ‘on-the-day coordination’ should actually be named final month coordination, because I hop on board for the month running up to the big day to liaise with your suppliers and create a final timeline. This is useful at the best of times when you’re swamped with life as well as wedmin – otherwise it wouldn’t be my job! - but particularly for December weddings.

The festive season brings 7000 extra things to be organising day-to-day, so having an on-the-day wedding coordinator for a December wedding can be an absolute saviour. It allows you to enjoy Christmas and it’s run-up relatively stress-free, before enjoying the winter wedding of your dreams. Lynsay and Chris did exactly this for their 30th December wedding, and I’m so glad they did as it was an awesome day to be a part of!

While Lynsay got ready with her bridesmaids and bridesmen, wearing silky gorgeous kimonos and generally being absolute babes, I was putting the finishing touches to their wedding set-up in preparation for their Humanist ceremony. As House for an Art Lover was designed by legendary artist Charles Rennie Mackintosh and celebrates his incredible work throughout, the venue doesn’t need too much adding to it for mega impact. Lynsay and Chris opted for simple Meadow Isle Design floral designs (which, despite their hyperrealistic appearance, are actually made of silk! Silk flowers are the perfect way to get the flowers that you want if they’re out of season, and an excellent way of preserving your bouquet forever.)

Their exceptional choice of suppliers (if I do say so myself) continued to the reception, where Lynsay and Chris did not hold back on the entertainment factor. As well as having The Man from Del Monte as their wedding band, they also had The Eclectic Strings string quartet to set the atmosphere, and Billy Reid Magic to stun guests. The dancefloor was flanked by Big Bright Letters’ light-up letters and Bygone Booth for some vintage-inspired memory making, bringing some glamour and grandeur to the proceedings. Their delicious cake table was supplied by Three Sisters Bake, crowned with their three-tiered rustic buttercream wedding cake, and complete with their mirrored “It was always you” cake topper. SO CUTE!

With so many suppliers, it was paramount that everyone was able to get in and get ready on time – crucially, without disturbing Lynsay, Chris and their guests. There should be no panicked calls to a bride or a groom on my watch, thank ya much – however, there should be lots of dancing and lots of fireworks, which Lynsay and Chris had in buckets. A glorious end to a glorious day!
